Q&A VISTAFLEX II

What is the VISTAFLEX Series? How is the VISTAFLEX II different from its predecessor? What makes the VISTAFLEX II better? Why did W&H decide to develop the VISTAFLEX II?

What is the VISTAFLEX series? The VISTAFLEX II is the second generation of W&H’s extremely fast, fully-automated, wide width press. As with the original VISTAFLEX, four jobs can be prepped and stored while the press is running another job. With the use of a high-speed robots, changeovers are made with the simple push of a button. The series also has the fastest speeds on the market, reaching 800 m/min. and produces excellent print quality on challenging substrates, such as stretch and back sheet films. This series was created for printers who have to run demanding print jobs at top speeds around the clock.
How is the VISTAFLEX II different from its predecessor? The first thing someone would notice is the modern, fresh look of the press, which now matches the exterior of the other W&H presses.
The substantial changes, however, are inside the machine.
To start, VISTAFLEX II has a reinforced bearing system designed for producing excellent print quality running at extremely high speeds 24/7, with an integrated, telescopic CI cleaning device.

Several automation systems developed by W&H have been integrated into the machine, including EASY SET and EASY REG for impression and register setting, the VISION system for monitoring and defect detection, and TURBOCLEAN ADVANCE E inking and wash-up system.

And finally, we’ve added the new FILMATIC II C, a non-stop rewinder with an integrated slitter module.

What makes the VISTAFLEX II better? The automation systems are extremely helpful. By having them integrated in the press, the operator has a complete overview of the job on the ProControl unit and it’s incredibly user-friendly. This simplifies operation and reduces set-up, register, and impression times while having the economic and environmental benefit of using less energy, ink, and substrate. All job data can be tied into our RUBY IoT platform and when used with Connect 4 Flow, creates a direct link between a customer’s ERP system and the press. This means that job data can be sent from the desk to the press.
Why did W&H decide to develop the VISTAFLEX II?The original VISTAFLEX was launched in 2008. Since that time, W&H has developed technologies and automation systems that have been integrated into other presses, such as the MIRAFLEX II and NOVOFLEX II. We saw that having these systems integrated was delivering significant benefits to our customers and wanted to apply that to the VISTAFLEX II. And, of course, W&H is focused on developing technologies that advance what’s possible and make production more efficient, sustainable and economical.
