Traceability

Digitization and traceability of machine data is key on the way to the sustainable and circular packaging of the future.

RUBY is our platform to connect your W&H machines to gather and analyze your production data. RUBY is also the platform to connect and share data with future tracing systems.

To realize working eco-systems, industry standards are needed and are still work in progress. We as W&H will support all relevant industry standards and data platforms to link products with life cycle data. On basis of the industry standard OPC UA we are already showcasing how a cross-manufacturer machine-to-machine communication works.

About UPC UA

As an open interface standard, OPC UA is a central prerequisite for the successful introduction of Industry 4.0 in production. OPC UA ensures the interoperability of machines and systems, which can be linked and redesigned as required via Plug & Work - platform-independent and cross-manufacturer.

OPC UA for Machinery

W&H is partner of the OPC UA for Machinery project. The German VDMA is working with its member companies to develop industry-specific OPC UA "Companion Specifications", thus creating a global language of production. By agreeing on OPC UA as the technology in combination with standardized information models, the integration of machines from different manufacturers into a common system is considerably simplified. 40 working groups and 600 companies from different industries are taking part in this project.

UMATI Showcase during K 2022

For K 2022 the OPC UA for Machinery project team created a showcase. A total of around 40 international machine manufacturers are taking part, making the great potential of platform-independent and cross-manufacturer machine-to-machine communication visible and tangible. Networked machines are equipped with a QR code. Scanning with a smartphone leads to umati.app (mobile website) and displays live data of the machine. On the website, it is possible to navigate through other machines. Visitors can access these data via smartphone and in the VDMA dome.

We are connected with our VAREX II during K 2022 as well as all blown film lines in the headquarters at Lengerich during our EXPO. You are welcome to visit us!
